Isaiah Collier, a 27-year-old saxophonist and bandleader of Isaiah Collier and The Chosen Few, has quickly established himself as a prodigious talent in the jazz world. Recognized as the Chicago Tribune's Jazz Artist of the Year for 2024, his album The Almighty (2024) was named one of the Top Ten Jazz Recordings by The New York Times, and he was featured in their Fall Arts Preview. A two-time winner of Downbeat Magazine's Rising Star Award for Tenor and Soprano Saxophone, Collier's sound is described as a “sonic time machine,” blending influences from past and present. With six albums to his name, including Parallel Universe (2023) and I AM BEYOND (2022), he has garnered widespread critical acclaim for his live performances and innovative compositions, establishing himself as a key figure in both the Chicago jazz scene and the broader post-Coltrane saxophone tradition.
